The investment will bring British capital and technology, support skills development, and strengthen Moldova’s integration into European electronics value chains.
Cornelius Electronics has announced a €5 million investment to expand its operations at the Edineț Industrial Park in northern Moldova, strengthening the country’s electronics manufacturing sector and export capacity. The British owned company will construct three new production halls with a total area exceeding 3,000 square metres, dedicated to manufacturing wiring harnesses and connection systems for 14 industries, including healthcare, artificial intelligence, railway transport and renewable energy. All production will be exported to industrial clients in the European Union.
The company currently employs 81 people in Moldova, more than 80% of whom are women. The expansion is expected to create additional jobs and reinforce Edineț’s role as an emerging industrial hub.
Diana Popovici, Managing Director of Cornelius Electronics SRL, said the company’s growth is driven by continuous investment in technology, modern equipment and team development, with a clear focus on quality, innovation and customer satisfaction.
The project was enabled through a MoU signed by Invest Moldova Agency, Innovate Moldova and the Municipality of Edineț, allowing adjustments to the industrial park infrastructure plan and the extension of production facilities. Natalia Bejan, Director of Invest Moldova Agency, noted that the expansion reflects investor confidence following several years of successful operations in Moldova.
The investment aligns with strengthening economic relations between Moldova and the United Kingdom under the Strategic Partnership and Trade and Cooperation Agreement. British foreign direct investment in Moldova exceeded USD 257 million in 2024, concentrated mainly in value added sectors such as IT and electronics. Moldova’s electronics industry remains a key supplier to EU markets, accounting for over 90% of sector exports.
