On National Technology Day, the Defence Minister opens a new BrahMos testing facility in UP, highlighting its role in enhancing India’s missile capabilities and defence self-reliance.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Marking the occasion on National Technology Day, he hailed the move as a significant step in strengthening India’s defence capabilities and technological self-reliance.
BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile, jointly developed by India and Russia, known for its precision, speed, and versatility.
During his address, Mr Singh said the facility would enhance the country’s preparedness and boost indigenous missile production. He described the BrahMos missile not merely as a weapon but as a symbol of India’s military strength, deterrence, and commitment to safeguarding its borders.
He also spoke about the recent Operation Sindoor, calling it a representation of India’s political, social, and strategic will.
Singh emphasised that the operation aimed to dismantle terrorist infrastructure across the border without harming civilians.
Recalling the nuclear tests at Pokhran in 1998, Mr Singh paid tribute to the scientists and engineers whose efforts made India a nuclear power under the leadership of then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He said the opening of the new facility on National Technology Day reinforces the country’s ongoing commitment to technological and military advancement.
Mr Singh affirmed India’s growing stature as a global power, backed by a strong defence manufacturing sector and a clear vision.
