Dell taps India’s young digital first population, expanding retail reach and pushing AI powered PCs as long term investments.
Dell Technologies is doubling down on India as one of its most strategic and high growth global markets, banking on the country’s young population, expanding digital adoption and rising demand for intelligent computing. The company is sharpening its focus on AI enabled PCs while significantly expanding its retail footprint to tap long term consumer demand.
Speaking to PTI, Raj Kumar Rishi, Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Business for Asia Pacific and Japan, said India is not just a growth opportunity but a long standing focus market for Dell. The company has been manufacturing in India for over 18 years, supported by strong local capabilities and deep ecosystem partnerships.
Dell sees growing potential in the democratisation of AI powered computing, particularly among students, first time users and younger consumers. According to Rishi, expanding access to intelligent devices is central to narrowing digital divides and supporting broader economic and social development in the country.
As part of its growth roadmap, Dell has expanded operations to more than 400 cities across India. Its retail network now includes over 540 Dell Exclusive Stores, more than 850 large format retail outlets and upwards of 5000 multi brand outlets. The company is also investing in experience-led retail, including Alienware gaming stores in major cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Rishi noted a clear shift in consumer behaviour, with Indian buyers increasingly viewing PCs as long term investments. Longevity, performance and future readiness are becoming key purchase drivers, particularly as AI driven computing reshapes personal and professional use. AI ready PCs, he said, are increasingly seen as more future proof, reinforcing Dell’s focus on intelligent devices for the Indian market.
