The new plant has space and electrical infrastructure to support future expansion as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow
Exicom Tele-Systems Limited has opened a new ₹216-crore integrated manufacturing facility in Hyderabad to expand its production of EV chargers and power electronics.
The new greenfield plant is spread across 18.4 acres with a built-up area of around 2,80,000 square feet. In its first phase, the facility is expected to increase the company’s manufacturing capacity by about 2.5 times and create more than 750 jobs.
The unit will manufacture EV charging systems, lithium-ion battery solutions and critical power equipment used in telecom networks, data centres and other important infrastructure.
According to Anant Nahata, CEO and Managing Director of Exicom, the plant has been designed for long-term growth. He said the company has built larger capacities than before and created infrastructure that can support much higher production levels in the future.
The Hyderabad facility uses automation, robotics and digital tracking systems, along with specialised testing infrastructure for advanced power electronics manufacturing.
Earlier, the company’s facility in Gurugram had an annual capacity of about 70,000 AC chargers. With the Hyderabad plant now operational, Exicom’s total capacity has increased to around 1 lakh AC chargers per year and is expected to reach nearly 2 lakh units once additional production lines are added.
Production capacity for DC fast chargers will also increase to around 4,000 units annually, up from about 2,400 units earlier. The new plant also has space and electrical infrastructure to support future expansion as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow.
