French counter-drone startup Alta Ares has raised €50 million in fresh funding, Reuters reported, as increasing security concerns drive demand for technologies designed to counter aerial threats.
The funding will be used to increase production of the company’s AI-enabled interceptor drones, which are designed to neutralize threats such as drones, missiles and glide bombs. Alta Ares also plans to strengthen its presence in Poland, Germany and the United States.
According to Reuters, the startup’s systems are already deployed in Ukraine, the Middle East and parts of Asia. The latest funding round drew participation from European and U.S. venture capital investors, reflecting growing interest in defence technology companies.
Alta Ares develops systems that combine artificial intelligence, sensing technologies and embedded electronics to identify and tackle aerial threats. The company is among a growing number of defence technology firms developing systems designed to respond to evolving aerial threats.
The fresh capital will support manufacturing expansion and international growth. Alta Ares had previously raised €2 million in funding in 2025. With the latest investment, the company aims to scale production, increase deployment of its systems and expand its footprint in key international markets.
