Ramachandran stated that electronic exports from Tamil Nadu constitute 40 per cent of India’s total electronic exports.
The state of Tamil Nadu contributed about $20 billion to India’s electronic exports in the financial year 2025-26 according to Singai G Ramachandran, CEO of the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (TANSIM).
“Tamil Nadu is already manufacturing for the world. Today, if you look at the financial year 2025-26, in India’s electronics exports, almost $20 billion is from Tamil Nadu,” said Ramachandran, at the launch of the US-based Vultr’s 20 megawatt (MW) AI supercluster in Chennai. The Chennai cluster, Vultr’s second largest supercomputing facility after the one in the US, will be powered by 10,000 AMD Instinct MI335X GPUs, along with AMD EPYC CPUs. The facility will provide large-scale AI training and inference workload needed for the domestic market.
At the event, Vultr’s India unit signed an MoU with StartupTN, Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, under which early-stage startups will get $2500 worth of Vultr credits and startups beyond the early-stage funding will get $45000 worth of Vultr credits, both at a 20 per cent discount.
Tamil Nadu houses all iPhone manufacturing units in India, along with hosting major Electronic manufacturing services (EMS) companies and component makers. The state benefits from an integrated infrastructure and proximity to the technology hub of Bengaluru.
Ramachandran stated that electronic exports from Tamil Nadu constitute 40 per cent of India’s total electronic exports, which have doubled in the last two years. He added that the state-based startups are solving real-world problems, with the people from the state developing startups in various areas of India like Gujarat, Delhi and others.
