To jointly develop advanced defence technologies, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Apollo Micro Systems have partnered, focusing on underwater weapons, air defence, and modernising existing systems.
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Apollo Micro Systems Ltd (AMS) to jointly develop and supply advanced electronic warfare and defence technologies.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday in Kolkata, formalised by Commander Shantanu Bose (IN Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding) at GRSE, and Mr Karunakar Reddy Baddam, Managing Director of AMS, with senior officials from both companies in attendance.
The partnership aims to combine the capabilities of both organisations to design, manufacture, and deliver a range of advanced systems, including underwater weapons, vehicles, mines, communication systems, and air defence solutions.
These innovations are intended to meet the evolving needs of the Indian Defence Forces, paramilitary units, police, and government agencies while also addressing demand from the civil sector and international markets.
In addition to the joint development and production, the collaboration will focus on modernising existing systems, ensuring they remain aligned with the changing operational requirements of the armed forces.
GRSE confirmed their focus on enhancing indigenous capabilities and supporting the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative in defence manufacturing.
Founded in 1884, GRSE is one of India’s premier shipbuilding companies under the Ministry of Defence. The shipyard has since constructed over 790 platforms, including 110 warships. In addition to shipbuilding, GRSE produces marine engines and engineering products, contributing to India’s defence sector.
