As India’s electronics industry expands, companies like Dixon Technologies are hiring experts from around the world for top positions. They are offering high salaries because there aren’t enough skilled professionals available.
Dixon Technologies is aggressively expanding its talent acquisition strategy by hiring senior professionals from international markets such as Taiwan, Japan, Mexico, and Europe. The company has already recruited three expatriates from leading firms, including Wistron Corp and HKC Co, and plans further hires.
As India’s electronics manufacturing sector moves into advanced areas like component production, companies are ramping up efforts to recruit experienced leaders, both expatriates and Indian professionals with global exposure. However, a severe talent shortage remains a key challenge, particularly in leadership roles.
According to talent solutions firm Xpheno, leadership professionals account for just 1% of India’s total white-collar electronics workforce. Currently, over 80 leadership roles are open across key firms such as Tata Electronics, Zetwerk, Micromax-owned Bhagwati Products, Epack Durable, Amber Enterprises, CG Semi, L&T Semiconductor, and Syrma SGS.
This shortage has driven up executive salaries, with compensation packages for leadership positions ranging from ₹1.5-2.5 crore annually, excluding ESOPs, as per ABC Consultants. Industry experts believe that strengthening the component ecosystem aligns with India’s goal of enhancing local manufacturing.
Indian Firms Strengthen Tech Leadership
Dixon Technologies’ Managing Director Atul Lall emphasized the industry’s potential to compete globally with increased investments and skilled talent. The demand for experienced professionals from the US, APAC, and Europe is surging as Indian firms seek global expertise to bridge local talent gaps.
Other major firms are also making strategic leadership hires. Kaynes Semicon has onboarded top executives for its ₹3,300 crore semiconductor unit in Gujarat. Suchi Semicon recently appointed Gunasegaran Archunan as CEO, while Tata Electronics has brought in former Intel executive Reda Masarwa as Senior VP of Construction and Facilities.
Zetwerk has strengthened its leadership with key hires, including Bharat Chopra (ex-Samsung), Kannan Krishnan (ex-Bharat FIH and Nokia), and Josh Foulger (ex-Bharat FIH).
To accelerate domestic electronics production and reduce dependence on imports, the government is expected to roll out a ₹25,000 crore incentive scheme. Additionally, production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for components like ACs and LED lights, along with reduced import duties, aim to enhance domestic value addition and drive further talent acquisition.
