Google Cloud is expanding its partnership with global cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks to simplify security and accelerate cloud adoption, according to a report in IANS.
As part of the new deal, Palo Alto Networks will run its Application Framework on Google Cloud to take advantage of Google Cloud Platform’s secure, durable storage and highly-scalable Artificial Intelligence (AI) and analytics tools, the report said.
The news agency quoted Tariq Shaukat, president, Global Alliances and Industry Platforms, Google Cloud as saying: “Palo Alto Networks will also run their “GlobalProtect” service on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).”
Palo Alto Networks becomes Google Cloud customer
Varun Badhwar, senior vice president of Products and Engineering for Public Cloud Security at Palo Alto Networks, said that as this partnership makes them a Google Cloud customer, they can now run important cloud-delivered security services at scale with the benefits of Google’s AI and analytics expertise.
Palo Alto Networks will also be working with Google Cloud to offer organisations moving to Google Cloud additional visibility, compliance and security capabilities they need to prevent cyber attacks, Badhwar said.
Meanwhile, Shaukat informed that organisations who run on Google Cloud will have easy access to security functionality from Palo Alto Networks with enhanced capabilities available only on Google Cloud.
It may be noted here that Palo Alto Networks had recently acquired RedLock, a public cloud security analytics company, in a US$173 million deal.
