The government said its assessment has found no evidence of critical information loss, while investigations into the cybersecurity incident continue.
The government has said it has found no evidence of any critical loss of information following the recent cybersecurity incident involving Tata Electronics, while investigations into the matter continue.
Speaking at the launch of the latest Digital Threat Report on Monday, Electronics and Information Technology Secretary S. Krishnan said Tata Electronics is working closely with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to assess and address the incident.
According to Krishnan, the government’s assessment so far has not identified any significant loss of critical information. However, he noted that the evaluation is still underway, indicating that authorities continue to monitor the situation.
The incident has drawn attention because Tata Electronics is a key manufacturing partner for Apple in India, raising concerns about possible implications for the company’s supply chain. Earlier, in the government’s first official response, Krishnan had confirmed that the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) was examining the reported breach and coordinating with Tata Electronics to determine its scope and potential impact.
Highlighting the broader cybersecurity landscape, Krishnan said organisations should view cybersecurity as a business-wide risk rather than limiting it to IT operations. He stressed the need for continuous vigilance as cyber threats become more sophisticated, particularly with the rise of AI-enabled attacks and vulnerabilities across supply chains.
He said the government has been collaborating with industry through CERT-In advisories, cybersecurity awareness programmes, cyber hygiene initiatives and incident response frameworks to improve the country’s digital resilience.
The remarks came during the release of the latest Digital Threat Report, which highlights the growing complexity of cyber risks facing organisations.
