Huawei to Run 5G trials in Partnership with DoT India

Huawei has informed that the department of telecom (DoT) is in discussion to allocate 5G trial zones and that it wants to run its first trial in Delhi

Chinese telecom equipment major, Huawei has confirmed that it will work on 5G trials along with the Department of Telecom (DoT). Appreciating the move, Jay Chen, CEO of Huawei India, said, “We appreciate the Indian Government’s decision to partner with us for the 5G trials and for all the support and co-operation offered by the Government towards Huawei’s business operations in India.”

The CEO also said that the company has technology and solutions that are specifically customised for the Indian industry. Huawei plans to contribute for the timely development of high-quality 5G technology and use cases in India that will aid in the overall social and economic development for its consumers and industry.

The firm has confirmed that it has received DoT’s formal invitation recently along with the nod to start its demo of the 5G spectrum. Huawei’s latest technology and global expertise will be working towards the deployment of 5G services.

Huawei in India

Huawei has been operating in India and has developed its brand image since its inception. It is also one of the earliest Chinese companies to invest in the country. It works in close coordination with some of the largest global networks across the nation – an overseas research and development centre (R&D) in Bengaluru and marketing, manufacturing, logistics, engineering services and skilling and training centres across the country.

Earlier, Huawei had associated with major Indian operators lead the 5G laboratory testing programme in India. The department of telecom, in September, had decided to bar Chinese equipment makers, Huawei and ZTE from running 5G trials in India by citing security reasons. However, the issue was solved and both the companies were taken on-board to contribute towards driving the 5G ecosystem.
