Buzzing with innovation and global collaboration, India Mobile Congress 2025 takes off at New Delhi, spotlighting the nation’s vision to shape the future of telecommunications.
On Wednesday, the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress 2025 began at New Delhi’s Yashobhoomi Convention Centre. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event, which was organised jointly by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).
Addressing the delegates, Modi highlighted India’s rapid technological growth, praising startups that are innovating in areas such as quantum communication, 6G, and fraud prevention. He credited government initiatives like the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) for supporting this progress.
The Prime Minister also noted India’s six-fold rise in electronics production and 28-fold increase in mobile manufacturing since 2014. He emphasised the Made-in-India 4G stack, the new Telecommunications Act for faster approvals, and strengthened cybersecurity.

He called for collaboration between startups, academia, and policymakers to drive India’s technological advancement.
Among the other dignitaries who were present, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia acknowledged India’s evolution from a technology consumer to a global digital leader.
He outlined the country’s 6G ambitions, which are expected to contribute $1.2 trillion to the GDP by 2035, and set a target of securing 10% of the global 6G patents. Scindia noted India’s satellite communications market is projected to triple by 2033, and he praised the Production-Linked Incentive scheme for boosting manufacturing, exports, and employment.
He also underscored the digital revolution, citing a 98% drop in mobile data costs and international recognition of India’s digital infrastructure.
Scindia inaugurated the International 6G Symposium 2025, alongside Dr Neeraj Mittal, Secretary (Telecom). The symposium convened global policymakers, industry experts, and academics to discuss 6G research, standardisation, and India’s role in shaping the next-generation telecom ecosystem.
During the event, the Bharat 6G Alliance signed MoUs with NASSCOM and the European Space Agency. It released four whitepapers covering spectrum planning, AI in networks, 5G evolution, and 6G architecture and security. A joint declaration on 6G principles is scheduled for release on October 10, 2025.
Prior to that, Scindia, Minister of State Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, and Dr Mittal inaugurated the IMC 2025 Exhibitor Hall, interacting with startups, industry leaders, and exhibitors showcasing innovations in the telecom sector.
The IMC 2025, themed “Innovate to Transform,” runs from 8 to 11 October, showcasing India’s focus on next-generation connectivity and digital transformation.
