New Delhi talks focus on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics and cybersecurity collaboration, signalling stronger India–Vietnam cooperation in next-generation technologies.
India and Vietnam have agreed to strengthen cooperation in deep technologies following bilateral discussions between Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh and Vietnam’s Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan, in New Delhi.
The talks placed strong emphasis on collaboration in frontier technology areas including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cybersecurity, robotics, biotechnology, and advanced digital systems. Both sides highlighted the growing importance of innovation-led partnerships in addressing global technological challenges and accelerating economic growth.
Dr. Jitendra Singh described Vietnam as a key partner in India’s Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific vision, noting that science and technology cooperation has emerged as a central pillar of the India–Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He stressed that deeper engagement in emerging technologies can help both nations build resilient innovation ecosystems and enhance technological self-reliance.
A major focus of the discussions was strengthening collaboration between startups, research institutions, and innovation hubs. India proposed expanding exchanges between entrepreneurs and young researchers to jointly develop deep-tech solutions with commercial and societal applications. The Minister also highlighted India’s expanding startup ecosystem as an opportunity for co-development and technology-driven entrepreneurship.
Both countries reviewed ongoing collaboration under India-ASEAN science and innovation programmes, which have enabled Vietnamese researchers to participate in fellowship initiatives and joint research projects across multiple scientific domains.
Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan expressed Vietnam’s interest in structured cooperation in deep technologies and proposed appointing dedicated coordination points in both ministries to convert policy discussions into implementable projects. The two sides also discussed strengthening mechanisms such as the India-Vietnam Joint Committee Meeting to ensure sustained institutional engagement.
The dialogue explored cooperation in AI missions, cybersecurity frameworks, technology transfer, startup exchanges, and industry-linked research partnerships. Both nations agreed to maintain regular engagement and work towards translating deep-tech collaboration into tangible technological, economic, and societal outcomes.
