With an installed capacity of 281MW, JSW Energy’s latest Maharashtra project powers up its green ambitions and simultaneously its subsidiary secures a 25-year deal with Adani Electricity.
JSW Energy has commissioned a new 281MW renewable energy project in Maharashtra, combining 215MW of solar and 66MW of wind capacity.
The company stated that the addition would increase output during the peak wind season and enhance its overall contribution to green energy. With this, JSW Energy’s renewable portfolio has reached new heights.
Following this development, JSW’s total installed capacities now include 3482MW from wind, 1968MW from solar, and 1391MW from hydro sources. Renewables now make up 55 per cent of its total power generation capacity.
At the same time, the company’s total generation capacity stands at 29.9 GW. This includes 12.5 GW in operation, 12.4 GW under construction, and a future development pipeline of 4.9 GW across thermal, wind, hydro, and solar.
In a related update, the firm’s subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Three, has entered into a long-term agreement with Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. The power purchase agreement (PPA) is for 250 MW of wind energy linked to the state transmission utility (STU), and will last for 25 years at a tariff of ₹3.65 per unit.
The Maharashtra project strengthens JSW’s position as a major player in India’s green energy transition, while also supporting its strategy to maximise generation during high-demand seasons.
JSW Energy has outlined plans to achieve a 30GW capacity and 40GWh of energy storage by 2030. As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, the company also aims to become carbon neutral by 2050.
