Planning to generate 4700 new jobs, Kaynes India plans its electronic component manufacturing unit, reportedly a first of its kind, in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
Kaynes Circuits is all set to establish a ₹49.95 billion electronics manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, hitting another sixer in India’s growing electronic components sector.
This will contribute to adding value to enhancing domestic capabilities in high-end electronic components production. The project is estimated to be located around Vinfast’s proposed electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in the Thoothukudi region.
The facility aims to manufacture a wide array of critical components, including multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs), high-density interconnect (HDI) PCBs, flexible PCBs, camera modules, wire harnesses, high performance laminates, camera module assemblies, and wire harness assemblies.
These components are important for industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, industrial automation, defence, and others.
The initiative is expected to generate around 4700 direct jobs and will form a crucial part of Tamil Nadu’s vision to establish an electronics hub in Thoothukudi. It is also in alignment with India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) and electronics components manufacturing schemes, which aim to reduce import dependency and enhance domestic value addition.
The upcoming plant is expected to support India’s ambition of becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub, moving beyond basic assembly to deeper component-level production.
State officials believe this project could trigger a larger ecosystem of suppliers and service providers in the region.
