Driving a major boost to India’s electric mobility landscape, Mahindra is aiming to roll out 250 charging stations across the country by 2027.
Mahindra and Mahindra announced that it will establish 250 electric vehicle charging stations across India by the end of 2027, marking one of its largest public infrastructure initiatives to date. Each station will feature 180 kW ultra fast chargers, collectively offering 1000 charging points aimed at accelerating the country’s shift toward widespread EV adoption. The company said the move aligns with the government’s push to strengthen public charging capacity along key travel routes.
Mahindra has already commissioned the first two Charge IN stations at Hoskote on the Bengaluru Chennai highway and at Murthal on NH44 near Delhi. The locations were chosen to support long distance highway travel, which remains a key barrier for EV users who rely on dependable, high capacity chargers for intercity journeys.
Emphasising the broader sustainability vision behind the rollout, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Automotive Division at Mahindra and Mahindra, said that electric mobility represents a shift toward cleaner, more responsible transportation. He noted that upcoming models such as the XEV 9e and BE 6, both offering a real world range of around 500 km, will help increase customer confidence on longer routes when paired with the new ultra fast charging network.
According to the company, all Charge IN stations will be strategically located along major national highways and co-located with wayside amenities including restaurants and cafes, creating natural stopover points for travellers. The initiative is expected to significantly expand long haul EV usability while contributing to the development of a more reliable, accessible public charging ecosystem nationwide.
