The project is expected to significantly improve mobility access for wheelchair users, empowering them to lead more independent lives
Mobis India Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NeoMotion to distribute 600 advanced mobility devices across India. The initiative, titled “Accessibility & Freedom – Empowering Wheelchair Users with Mobility Assistive Devices,” represents an investment of INR 6.3 crore aimed at enhancing independence for individuals with disabilities.
As part of the collaboration, beneficiaries will receive NeoFly wheelchairs and NeoBolt motor-powered attachments—innovative assistive technologies developed and patented at IIT Madras. The NeoFly wheelchair offers 18 customization options, enabling improved posture, easier navigation in tight spaces, and the ability to travel 3–5 times farther with each push. Complementing this, NeoBolt is a clip-on motor unit that transforms the wheelchair into a roadworthy mobility device within seconds, offering speeds of up to 25 km/h and a range of up to 50 km per charge.
The initiative will benefit 600 individuals across eight states and union territories, including Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Haryana, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. The first phase was successfully completed in Tamil Nadu at the Chengalpattu District Collectorate, where 50 beneficiaries received their customized wheelchairs and underwent training for safe usage.
Mobis India Foundation, the CSR arm of Hyundai Mobis in India, has been actively engaged in community development initiatives spanning healthcare, education, environment, and social inclusion. This partnership with NeoMotion strengthens its commitment to accessibility and inclusive growth.
Huh Min Ho, Deputy General Manager at Mobis India Ltd., emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that inclusive mobility is key to building an equitable society and that the project aims to enable beneficiaries to access education, employment, and social opportunities with greater confidence.
Echoing this sentiment, Siddarth Daga, Co-founder and Chief Impact Officer at NeoMotion, highlighted that mobility is fundamental to dignity and independence. He described the collaboration as NeoMotion’s largest mobility empowerment initiative to date, aimed at creating meaningful, large-scale impact.
The project is expected to significantly improve mobility access for wheelchair users, empowering them to lead more independent lives, pursue livelihoods, and actively participate in their communities.
