After the completion of the year-long training through the MeitY-C-DAC initiative, young engineers are now ready to step into India’s growing electronic toy industry.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), C-DAC, representatives of the Indian toy sector and the LEGO Group have marked the graduation of the second batch of engineers trained under a national programme to boost electronic toy manufacturing. The convocation was held on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at the MeitY headquarters.

The initiative, titled Development of Electronics and IT-based Control and Automation Solutions for Consumer Electronic Goods (Toy Industry), aims to strengthen India’s electronic toy ecosystem.
MeitY’s R&D division has designed the project to develop prototypes and equip young engineers with the skills needed to create modern, electronics-driven toys. It also focuses on supporting candidates from underrepresented groups, including students from SC/ST and the Northeastern region backgrounds.
The participants were selected from across India and spent one year in structured training. For the first six months, the engineers worked at C-DAC Noida’s e-toys laboratory, where they learnt the fundamentals of toy electronics, control systems and design.
The second phase placed them within the industry to develop prototypes aligned with market requirements. Each trainee received a monthly stipend of ₹25,000 for the duration of the programme.
During the ceremony, Additional Secretary Amitesh Kumar Sinha inaugurated a new Electronic Toys Lab at C-DAC Noida.
He said India’s electronic toy market is growing rapidly and stressed the importance of electronics and IT in driving the sector’s future growth. He added that the programme can be expanded to reach more students and strengthen the broader toy ecosystem.
Sinha also noted that the e-Toys Centre of Excellence at C-DAC Noida will onboard NIELIT, MSH and other institutes to support start-ups and entrepreneurship.
Senior dignitaries from MeitY, C-DAC, the Toys Association of India and the LEGO Group attended the event, along with representatives from the electronic toys industry.
