Nexperia Partners With Tata Electronics for Semiconductor Manufacturing in India

The partnership is structured around three key areas: front-end wafer fabrication, back-end assembly and test, and technology and ecosystem development

Nexperia and Tata Electronics have announced a strategic partnership covering semiconductor wafer fabrication, assembly and testing, technology development, and ecosystem collaboration in India.

Under the partnership, the companies will work towards manufacturing Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio at Tata Electronics’ upcoming 300mm semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat. The facility is expected to provide front-end wafer manufacturing capabilities for Nexperia’s discrete semiconductor products.

The collaboration will also cover assembly and testing of Nexperia’s discrete semiconductor products at Tata Electronics’ semiconductor packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

The partnership is structured around three key areas: front-end wafer fabrication, back-end assembly and test, and technology and ecosystem development. According to the companies, the collaboration is intended to enhance manufacturing flexibility, strengthen supply-chain resilience, and establish scalable production pathways for future semiconductor demand.

Beyond manufacturing, Nexperia and Tata Electronics will explore collaboration in technology development, research, and semiconductor ecosystem initiatives. Nexperia will contribute its expertise in discrete, power, and analog semiconductors, while Tata Electronics will bring its expanding semiconductor manufacturing and packaging capabilities.

Stefan Tilger, interim CEO, Nexperia, said the collaboration brings together complementary strengths in technology, manufacturing, and innovation while supporting the development of semiconductor capabilities in India.

For Tata Electronics, the partnership adds another global semiconductor player to its manufacturing ecosystem as it develops facilities across the semiconductor value chain. The company is building a commercial semiconductor fab in Dholera and a semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad.

Tata Electronics said the two facilities represent a combined investment of $14 billion and are being developed to serve customers across automotive, industrial, consumer, energy, communications, and infrastructure applications.

The partnership comes as semiconductor manufacturers seek to expand capacity and diversify supply chains across geographies. For India, collaborations between domestic manufacturing companies and global semiconductor players could support the development of local wafer fabrication, packaging, testing, technology, and supply-chain capabilities.
