Windows 11 glitches are fixed as NVIDIA’s patch restores GPU performance, reviving gaming and graphics speeds.
NVIDIA has released a hotfix driver to resolve gaming slowdowns caused by the recent Windows 11 October 2025 Update (KB5066835), which affected PCs running GeForce GPUs. The dedicated GeForce Hotfix Display Driver 581.94 addresses noticeable frame rate drops in certain games, restoring performance ahead of NVIDIA’s next major driver rollout.
The company acknowledged the issue following widespread user reports and benchmarks on social media showing significant slowdowns. Digital Foundry reported that Assassin’s Creed Shadows ran 33 to 50 per cent slower on systems with the GeForce RTX 5090 GPU after the Windows update. After applying the hotfix, performance returned to normal, with user benchmarks showing FPS jumps from 149.7 to 202.3.
NVIDIA described the hotfix as a targeted, beta-quality patch designed to deliver faster relief than standard WHQL-certified drivers. It contains only the fixes required to resolve the Windows 11 performance regression, along with optimizations from the previous Game Ready Driver 581.80, including enhancements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Europa Universalis V.
While Microsoft has not commented on the cause of the slowdown, NVIDIA urges affected users to install the hotfix immediately. Users preferring more stable builds can wait for the next WHQL-certified driver, which will incorporate this fix. The GeForce Hotfix Display Driver 581.94 is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 via NVIDIA’s Customer Care support page.
