With over 20 years of cybersecurity expertise, Ian Dawson is set to lead Silicon Labs’ global security strategy, enhancing cyber resilience and protecting innovation.
Silicon Labs has announced the appointment of Ian N. Dawson as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Dawson will oversee the company’s cybersecurity strategy, with a focus on protecting intellectual property (IP).
Dawson brings more than 20 years of experience in information technology and cybersecurity, having held senior roles at Lumen Technologies and The Charles Schwab Corporation. His career includes managing global security operations, enterprise resilience initiatives, and cybersecurity programmes.
Dawson’s expertise covers areas such as cloud security, product security, AI governance, and intellectual property protection.
In his new role at Silicon Labs, Dawson will lead efforts to implement security-by-design practices across the company’s products, including silicon, software, and cloud-based solutions. The goal is to enhance the company’s security measures and support its long-term growth.
Daniel Cooley, Chief Technology Officer at Silicon Labs, noted Dawson’s experience in building and managing global security teams.
“Ian’s depth of experience building and scaling global security capabilities will be instrumental as we continue to deliver secure, intelligent wireless solutions and strengthen resiliency, governance, and customer trust across our business,” he said.
Dawson, for his part, expressed his interest in joining the company, recognising the increasing importance of security in enabling business growth and competitive differentiation.
