Promising fresh momentum in cutting-edge electronic warfare advancements, veteran scientist K. Murali takes charge of DLRL-DRDO.
K. Murali has been named the new Director of the Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), a key arm of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He succeeds N. Srinivas Rao, who retired from the role on 30 June.
DLRL, based in Hyderabad, has been at the forefront of developing electronic warfare (EW) systems for India’s armed forces for over 60 years. It supplies advanced EW technology to the army, navy, and air force.
Murali brings more than three decades of experience to the post. He began his DRDO career in 1991 as a scientist at DLRL. Since then, he has held several senior roles and made significant contributions to the development of EW systems, RF (radio frequency) seekers, and anti-drone technologies.
In addition to his technical contributions, Murali has led numerous strategic research collaborations with universities and industry experts.
His appointment is seen as a continuation of DLRL’s mission to strengthen national defence through indigenous technology. The DRDO, in a press release, stated that Murali’s leadership is expected to drive innovation in electronic warfare and related systems.
Murali completed his Bachelor of Science at Osmania University in 1988. He later earned a master’s degree in computer science engineering from the University of Mysore in 1990.
