Bringing 20+ years of industry experience to lead the company’s transformation and growth, Lip-Bu Tan becomes the CEO of Intel, effective next week.
Intel Corporation has appointed Lip-Bu Tan as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective March 18, 2025. Tan, an experienced technology leader, takes over from interim co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle (MJ) Johnston Holthaus. He will also rejoin Intel’s board of directors, having stepped down in August 2024.
Furthermore, Frank D. Yeary, who served as the interim executive chair during the CEO search, will resume his role as independent chair once Tan assumes the CEO position.
In his new role, Tan expressed enthusiasm about Intel’s potential, acknowledging the company’s strong computing platform, customer base, and improving manufacturing capabilities. “I see significant opportunities to remake our business in ways that serve our customers better and create value for our shareholders,” he stated.
He brings over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor and software sectors, including a transformative leadership role at Cadence Design Systems, where he doubled the company’s revenue and led a 3200 per cent increase in stock price.
Tan is also the founding managing partner of Walden Catalyst Ventures and has extensive public company board experience, currently serving on the boards of Credo Technology Group and Schneider Electric.
Yeary praised Tan’s leadership, noting his proven ability to drive innovation, build customer-focused solutions, and deliver shareholder value. “We are delighted to have Lip-Bu as our CEO as we work to accelerate our turnaround and capitalise on the significant growth opportunities ahead,” Yeary said.
Intel’s board thanked the interim co-CEOs for their leadership during the transition, highlighting their role in ensuring stability and progress at a critical time for the company.
