Supporting its goal of 100% emission-free rides by 2040, Uber has partnered with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1000 electric vehicles in Indian cities by 2026.
Uber has recently announced a partnership with Refex Green Mobility to roll out 1000 electric vehicles (EVs) in key Indian cities by 2026. This initiative is part of Uber’s broader strategy to achieve 100% emission-free rides globally by 2040 and counter the challenges of EV adoption.
The new fleet of electric four-wheelers will be introduced in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, addressing the increasing demand for environmentally friendly transport options.
Aditya Kapoor, Head of Supply and Electrification at Uber India and South Asia, highlighted that the collaboration with Refex Green Mobility, operating under the brand Refex eVeelz, aligns with Uber’s mission to reduce urban pollution while providing reliable travel alternatives.
He noted that the partnership would enhance Uber’s efforts to electrify urban transportation, extending EV access across additional cities in India.
Refex Green Mobility, a subsidiary of Refex Industries Ltd, operates nearly 1,300 company-owned EVs. Chief of Staff Sachin Navtosh Jha expressed that the collaboration would contribute to reducing urban carbon emissions and help meet India’s broader sustainability targets.
Meanwhile, Uber has also launched its Uber Green service in several Indian cities, allowing riders to book an all-electric vehicle. This service is available in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, with a global presence in over 100 cities. Uber entered the Indian market in 2013 and now operates in 125 cities, offering various ride options, including cars, bikes, and autos.
