Rishab Bajaj, who joined the company as a management trainee in 2021, currently heads the firm’s electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler business.
Rishab Bajaj is emerging as a key public face of Bajaj Auto’s electric vehicle push, signalling a generational shift at India’s largest two-wheeler maker as it sharpens its focus on clean mobility. The 27-year-old, son of managing director Rajiv Bajaj, has begun taking on a more visible role following the launch of the company’s latest electric scooter, underscoring Bajaj Auto’s intent to scale up its EV ambitions.
Speaking to the media for the first time since joining the company, he said the EV strategy is closely aligned with changing consumer demographics, noting that nearly 40% of Chetak electric scooter buyers are under 35 years of age. The company is positioning the brand around practicality, cost efficiency and everyday usability rather than premium features alone.
Sales of the Chetak e-scooter have grown sharply, rising from about 4,000 units in 2021 to nearly 300,000 units in 2025, making it a central pillar of Bajaj Auto’s electric transition. The company is also expanding its electric three-wheeler portfolio as competition intensifies from both legacy players and newer EV-focused manufacturers.
Rishab’s rise within the company follows a familiar trajectory within the Bajaj family. After completing his education in Pune and the UK, he joined the firm at a young age, mirroring the early entry of previous generations into the business. While questions around succession persist, Bajaj Auto’s leadership has maintained that roles will evolve organically, with the company’s EV roadmap remaining the immediate priority.
