Boosting wireless chip innovation and creating local jobs for economic growth, Silicon Labs secures $23M from the Texas CHIPS Act to build an R&D lab in Austin.
Silicon Labs, a provider of secure wireless technology, has recently received a $23 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF), created through the Texas CHIPS Act. This funding will support the establishment of a new research and development (R&D) lab in Austin, Texas, which is expected to generate local jobs.
Silicon Labs, which was founded in Texas, will also use the grant to enhance its wireless chip design capabilities, focusing on its Series 3 technology. This advanced platform aims to improve device connectivity and intelligence, contributing to the broader goal of reinforcing Texas’ dominance in chip design.
Matt Johnson, President and CEO of Silicon Labs, expressed the company’s dedication to fostering innovation and economic growth in the state. “The Texas CHIPS Act funding will allow us to accelerate our efforts in wireless chip design and help strengthen Texas’ leadership in the semiconductor industry,” he said.
