The company aims to produce over 500 drones in the coming year, with a roadmap to expand capacity to 1,000 units annually
Gurugram-based SPH Aviation Pvt Ltd has announced the launch of iQuantara, a dedicated defence-focused brand aimed at strengthening India’s indigenous drone technology ecosystem. The move marks the company’s strategic expansion into the defence and aerospace sector, aligning with the country’s push for self-reliance in critical technologies.
iQuantara emerges from SPH Aviation’s existing defence initiatives, previously delivered under its parent brand. With a renewed identity and sharper strategic focus, the new brand aims to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) tailored for defence applications.
The platform will focus on next-generation integrated drone systems designed for a wide range of use cases, including surveillance and intelligence gathering, TACC3I systems, swarm-based missions, border monitoring, GIS-based mapping, logistics support, emergency response, and autonomous UAV operations.
Backed by the ecosystem and expertise of AVPL International, iQuantara plans to scale manufacturing significantly. The company aims to produce over 500 drones in the coming year, with a roadmap to expand capacity to 1,000 units annually. In parallel, it will enhance research and development efforts in areas such as telemetry, remote control systems, data exchange, and autonomous flight technologies to align with India’s defence indigenisation goals.
The initiative is supported by AITMC Ventures, which envisions transforming into a multi-domain technology player catering to both civilian and defence sectors. The company is also collaborating with defence R&D agencies and leading IITs to accelerate innovation.
Lt. Gen (Dr) RK Anand, CEO, highlighted the platform’s focus on building mission-ready, integrated systems designed and manufactured in India. Dr. Preet Sandhu, Founder and Managing Director of AVPL International, added that the company plans to invest ₹75 crore over the next five years and target a 15% share of the defence market, marking a significant step in its deep-tech expansion journey.
