Powering progress in their Raipur plant, Texmaco partners with AMP Energy to launch a 10MW solar plant, cutting emissions and boosting India’s green goals.
Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd., a player in India’s heavy engineering and railway infrastructure sector, has commissioned a 10MW DC group captive solar power plant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The project, developed in partnership with AMP Energy India, was inaugurated last week.
Texmaco noted that this marks its first large-scale shift to renewable energy at an operational site.
The solar plant is expected to generate over 15 million units of clean electricity annually, which will be used to power the company’s Raipur facility. This output is projected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 12,000 tonnes per year — roughly equal to planting half a million trees or removing 2600 vehicles from the road.
“This solar initiative is not just a tick-box on sustainability, it is a bold and forward-looking step in redefining how Indian industry powers its future,” said Indrajit Mookerjee, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Texmaco.
“By adopting clean energy at scale, we are strengthening our operational resilience, reducing our carbon footprint, and directly contributing to India’s long-term vision of self-reliance under Aatmanirbhar Bharat and energy security,” he noted.
The project has been developed under the Group Captive Open Access Policy, which allows industrial users to source electricity directly from renewable generators. This model can offer power cost reductions of 30–40% and greater control over energy sourcing.
Sudipta Mukherjee, Managing Director, stated, “Responsible manufacturing is no longer optional, it is essential to remain relevant, resilient, and globally competitive.”
The commissioning of the plant was led by Avijit Mitra, CEO (Foundry Division), and K Madeshwaran, COO (Foundry Division), along with the Raipur team.
