Following a successful third quarter of FY26 in December, TP Solar ramps up output, producing 2.9 GW modules and 2.8 GW cells in nine months as domestic manufacturing gathers pace.
TP Solar Limited, the solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power Renewable Energy, has reported strong production growth during the first nine months of FY26. Between April and December 2025, the company produced 2.8GW of domestic content requirement (DCR) solar cells and 2.9GW of solar modules, a total of 5.7GW.
Of the total module output, 2.4GW comprised DCR modules, while the remaining 0.5GW were ALMM-certified modules.
The company noted that the strongest momentum was seen in the December quarter. In Q3 FY26, cell production reached 940MW, compared with 196MW in the same quarter last year. This marks an almost fivefold year-on-year increase. Module output also rose to 990MW from 927MW a year earlier, translating into a growth of about seven per cent.
The performance reflects a capacity ramp-up and operational efficiency at the company’s manufacturing base in Tamil Nadu. TP Solar operates a 4.3GW integrated solar cell and module facility at Tirunelveli, one of the largest single-location plants of its kind in India.
The plant was set up with an investment of nearly ₹43 billion by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power. The investment aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing across the solar value chain and reduce dependence on imports.
The Tirunelveli facility is equipped with advanced TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies. It manufactures both ALMM-approved and DCR modules using locally produced cells at the same site.
TP Solar said the facility is also a part of its focus on inclusive growth. Nearly 80 per cent of the plant’s workforce comprises women.
