The MoU sets up student exchanges, joint research, and Centres of Excellence with Advanced Semiconductor Education and Research Programme.
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand sign a partnership to work together on Advance semiconductor education and research. The partnership focuses on student and faculty exchanges, joint research, dual-degree programmes, and the creation of Centres of Excellence.
A key element is the Graduate Pathway Programme in Semiconductors. Students from VIT will first complete a bridging semester in electronics, computer engineering, and computer science.
They will then move to AIT and the National Taipei University of Technology in Taiwan for advanced studies. The aim is to prepare graduates with the skills needed in the semiconductor sector.
The agreement also covers wider academic collaboration. This includes joint seminars, international conferences, research publications, and new dual-degree and twinning programmes across science, technology, management, and humanities.
Centres of Excellence will be set up to strengthen cooperation in these fields. Increased mobility of students and teachers is expected to link academic training more closely with industry needs in India and Southeast Asia.
The partnership comes as India expands its semiconductor industry. The India Semiconductor Mission has already cleared major projects across six states, backed by investments from Tata Electronics and Micron Technology.
With partnership between AIT and VIT, linking education and industry, the initiative is expected to help build a stronger workforce and support India’s role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
