EV charging firm signs ₹100 crore MoU with TN government, to create 500 new jobs

Plugzmart, an IIT Madras Research Park-incubated company signed the agreement during the ‘Vettri Tamil Nadu investment conclave 2026’. The company will expand its Oragadam facility, creating 500 new highly skilled jobs.

Incubated at IIT Madras Research Park, clean-tech firm Plugzmart, signed a MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to invest ₹100 crore (more than $10 million) to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charger manufacturing and research and development capabilities in the state.

The investment in the state is expected to directly create 500 highly skilled jobs in hardware engineering, power electronics, embedded software and advanced manufacturing.

The agreement was signed during the ‘Vettri Tamil Nadu investment conclave 2026’ in the presence of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. The investment will be made to scale up the company’s manufacturing capacity at Oragadam near Chennai.

Plugzmart designs and manufactures AC and DC fast chargers ranging from 3.3 kW to 360 kW, ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) compliant charge controllers, Power line communication modules, and cloud-native charger management systems.

“Tamil Nadu has created a strong ecosystem for advanced manufacturing and electric mobility.” said Plugzmart co-founder and CEO Vivek Samynathan. 

“ This investment will enable us to expand our manufacturing capabilities, create skilled employment and contribute to the rapid growth of EV charging infrastructure in the State.” Plugzmart co-founder and COO Ragavendra Ravichandran said.

The company currently builds charging networks for Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers, enterprise fleets, commercial real estate companies and Charging Point Operators across India.
