The investment will support over 150 MW of new renewable energy capacity, enough to power nearly 1.5 lakh households annually.
Apple has announced a Rs 1 billion investment to support the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in India, marking another major push toward clean energy adoption and sustainable industrial operations in the country.
The investment, being made in partnership with renewable energy developer CleanMax, will help build more than 150 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity across India. According to the company, the planned capacity could generate enough electricity to power nearly 1.5 lakh households annually, with the possibility of further expansion in the coming years.
The initiative is aimed at accelerating the use of renewable energy across Apple’s supply chain and manufacturing ecosystem in India, while also contributing to the country’s broader clean energy transition. As industries increasingly shift toward low-carbon operations, large-scale renewable energy projects are becoming critical for meeting rising power demand sustainably.
Apple said the investment aligns with its long-term goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its operations, supply chain, and product lifecycle by 2030. The company has already partnered with CleanMax on rooftop solar projects powering its offices and retail operations in India entirely through renewable energy sources.
Beyond power generation, the initiative also reflects growing corporate participation in India’s expanding green economy. Industry observers believe such investments can strengthen renewable infrastructure development, support energy-efficient manufacturing, and encourage wider adoption of clean technologies across sectors.
In addition to the renewable energy investment, Apple also announced partnerships focused on sustainability and environmental protection in India. The company is working with WWF-India on waste management and recycling initiatives aimed at improving material recovery and reducing plastic leakage into ecosystems.
Apple has also partnered with Acumen to support early-stage green enterprises through grants and mentorship programs. These ventures are focused on areas including waste management, regenerative agriculture, and circular economy solutions.
The investment underscores India’s growing importance as a global renewable energy hub and highlights increasing corporate commitment toward sustainable infrastructure development.
