Honeywell, LS Electric Ally For Smarter Data Centres

Aiming to transform data centres, Honeywell and LS Electric team up with AI-powered power management and smart energy storage, promising efficient and reliable infrastructure.

Smart, AI-driven power and energy storage solutions are coming to data centres as Honeywell and LS Electric join forces, promising efficiency, resiliency, and cost-saving innovation worldwide.

Honeywell and LS Electric have recently announced a global partnership aimed at improving power management and energy storage for data centres and commercial buildings.

The collaboration combines Honeywell’s experience in building automation and controls with LS Electric’s expertise in power systems to enhance efficiency, resiliency, and operational reliability.

According to the companies, the partnership will initially focus on integrated switchgear and power management solutions. Data centre operators will be able to monitor and distribute electricity intelligently, reducing downtime and preventing costly interruptions.

The companies plan to develop new electrical power monitoring systems, using Honeywell Forge’s AI capabilities alongside LS Electric’s software and technical expertise. These systems will optimise energy use, predict maintenance needs, and address potential issues before they affect operations.

Beyond power management, Honeywell and LS Electric will also jointly develop modular battery energy storage systems (BESS) for commercial and industrial buildings. These systems will integrate LS Electric’s storage technology with Honeywell’s energy control software.

The BESS solutions aim to create microgrids within critical facilities, helping manage grid demand, forecast energy costs, and enhance resiliency during power fluctuations.

“Our collaboration with LS Electric supports our focus on smarter, scalable solutions for critical industries,” said Billal Hammoud, President and CEO of Honeywell Building Automation. “As global demand for data and energy accelerates, we’re delivering resilient, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure that leverages AI to keep customers ahead.”

JongWoo Kim, President of LS Electric Power Electric, added: “By combining our expertise in power infrastructure and energy storage with Honeywell’s capabilities, we aim to provide innovative solutions for data centres and large commercial buildings worldwide, achieving both energy efficiency and operational reliability.”

Currently, data centres account for 1–2% of global electricity consumption, a figure expected to rise sharply. Citing this data, Honeywell hopes that the new partnership will position it as a one-stop provider of building automation and power infrastructure.
