Entered late but made a strong start, India will soon achieve semiconductor self reliance and begin exports, says Amit Shah.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said India had entered the semiconductor industry a little late but had made a strong start and would soon become self reliant and begin exports.
Addressing the Abhyudaya Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit, Shah said the country would not only meet its domestic semiconductor requirements but also emerge as an exporter in the near future. He said a strong foundation was being laid under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a global leader in emerging sectors.
Shah also highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s economic progress, praising the BJP led state government for registering 4.57 lakh micro small and medium enterprises in just one year. He said the state’s central location and fertile land offered significant advantages for investors, including lower logistics costs and high returns even with modest investment.
During the event, Shah inaugurated or laid the foundation stone for industrial projects worth over ₹2 trillion across sectors such as industry, energy, renewable energy, tourism and health. Officials said these projects are expected to generate nearly 1,93,000 jobs.
Shah noted that Madhya Pradesh had shed its earlier image as an economically weak state and was now emerging as a hub for agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, information technology and start ups. He also pointed to improvements in power generation, cleanliness and ease of doing business.
Several Union and state leaders attended the summit, which coincided with the birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
