Nissan’s new long-term strategy places electrification and AI-defined vehicles at the center of its future mobility roadmap.
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled its long-term vision, “Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life,” outlining an expanded focus on electric mobility supported by artificial intelligence technologies.
The strategy positions electrification as the foundation of Nissan’s future vehicles, combining AI-driven capabilities with a broader mix of electric and hybrid powertrains to meet varying market needs worldwide.
Central to the plan is Nissan’s AI-Defined Vehicle (AIDV) concept, integrating AI Drive and AI Partner technologies to enhance safety, automation, and user experience. The company aims to deploy AI Drive technology across nearly 90 percent of its lineup over time, advancing autonomous driving capabilities and connected vehicle services.
Electrification remains the core growth driver. Nissan will expand adoption of its e-POWER series hybrid system, designed to deliver an electric-like driving experience without external charging, serving as a bridge toward full battery-electric vehicles. Alongside e-POWER, Nissan will introduce hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender solutions through partnerships, creating a diversified electrified portfolio.
The automaker will also streamline its global lineup from 56 to 45 models, focusing investment on high-volume and electrified segments. Future vehicles will be categorized into Heartbeat, Core, Growth, and Partner models to improve development efficiency and accelerate EV rollout.
Supporting this shift, Nissan is moving toward architecture-led vehicle development using shared platforms, software, and powertrains, enabling faster launches and improved cost competitiveness.
With AI integration and expanded electrification at its core, Nissan’s new vision signals a stronger transition toward intelligent electric mobility as the company prepares for its next phase of growth.
