Roadster X Plus with 9.1 kWh battery receives CMVR approval from iCAT Manesar confirming regulatory compliance and readiness for market launch.
Ola Electric announced that its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+, powered by an indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack, has received government certification and will soon commence deliveries.
The 9.1 kWh Roadster X+ has been approved under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, by the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar, a government testing agency. This makes the Roadster X+ the first electric motorcycle in India to be certified with a fully in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack.
The certification follows comprehensive vehicle-level testing mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for Battery-Operated Vehicles, covering constructional and functional safety, range, gradeability, braking, noise, and electromagnetic compatibility, ensuring compliance with the highest regulatory and safety standards.
Ola Electric confirmed that the battery pack itself has also received ARAI certification under AIS-156 Amendment 4, having cleared stringent durability and safety tests including water immersion, thermal runaway, fire safety, vibration, and mechanical shock.
Ola Electric spokesperson said the certification represents a major step in the company’s mission to build end-to-end EV technology in India. “The Roadster X+ delivers unmatched range, performance, safety, and reliability, powered entirely by our own cell and battery technology, and marks a defining step towards accelerating EV adoption in India’s motorcycle-dominated two-wheeler market,” the spokesperson added.
With this approval, Ola Electric extends the use of its proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell technology across its two-wheeler portfolio, strengthening its position as a leader in domestic electric vehicle innovation and manufacturing.
