From Dell to driving Saudi Arabia’s tech ambitions, Amit Midha now joins Lenovo’s board, strengthening the company’s push into the Middle East with new manufacturing expansion.
Lenovo Group Limited has named Amit Midha, Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Arabia’s Alat, as a non-executive director on its board. He joins twelve other members who represent a diverse mix of global expertise.
The appointment comes as Lenovo deepens its collaboration with Alat. Earlier this year, Lenovo secured a US$2 billion investment through three-year zero-coupon convertible bonds to support its expansion in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
Welcoming the appointment, Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang said Midha’s international experience and leadership in driving Saudi Arabia’s industrial development and digital transformation would strengthen the company’s partnerships and innovation agenda in the Middle East.
Midha took charge of Alat in February 2023. Backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the company focuses on transforming electronics and advanced industries. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Dell Technologies, overseeing operations across Asia Pacific and Japan.
Midha was also Dell’s Executive Vice President for Global Digital Cities, where he led initiatives supporting smart infrastructure for governments worldwide. Bloomberg named him ‘CEO of the Year’ in Information Technology in 2010.
In addition to his role at Alat, Midha has served as a non-executive director at India-listed GNG Electronics Ltd since 2024. He holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from SGSITS, Indore.
Meanwhile, Lenovo’s new manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia is expected to begin operations in 2026, producing millions of devices annually. The project aims to create jobs and establish the region as a hub for advanced technology and manufacturing. Moreover, the company is also setting up a regional headquarters in Riyadh.
