Powering India’s defence self-reliance, Sanlayan invests in Versabyte to advance indigenous power electronics, expand R&D, and boost next-gen capabilities across land, sea, air, space and exports.
Defence electronics firm Sanlayan Technologies has announced an investment in Versabyte Data Systems to strengthen domestic manufacturing in defence and aerospace electronics. The collaboration will integrate Versabyte’s high-reliability power products with Sanlayan’s expanding defence electronics portfolio.
Both companies said Versabyte will retain its independent identity, leadership and workforce. They aim to use combined expertise to pursue opportunities in both Indian and global markets. However, no financial information of this deal has been disclosed.
Sanlayan said the partnership will help accelerate India’s self-reliance in producing power systems. It noted that India still relies heavily on imports in this segment, despite growing local demand. Power systems power critical platforms across land, air, sea and space.
Versabyte plans to introduce next-generation power solutions for radar, electronic warfare, communication and unmanned systems. It also intends to scale power offerings for future platforms such as long-range radars and directed energy weapons.
Meanwhile, Sanlayan recently acquired Dexcel Electronics, an embedded systems company, and has built an in-house R&D team working on radar and electronic warfare technologies.
The company recently recorded revenues of ₹670 million and a healthy profit margin. It also holds an order book and pipeline totalling more than ₹4 billion.
Sanlayan said the investment supports its strategy of acquisitions, internal innovation and international partnerships. The company aims to contribute to the government’s defence production and export targets for 2029.
Sanlayan, headquartered in Bengaluru, builds mission-critical electronic systems for India’s armed forces. Versabyte, founded in 1987, is a power electronics supplier with OEM status, serving India’s defence ecosystem for nearly four decades. ts customers include HAL, BEL, BDL, DRDO and the Indian Armed Forces, supporting vital platforms across land, sea, air and space.
