The initiative will equip students with industry-relevant skills and real-world exposure to electric mobility
SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ather Energy to strengthen electric vehicle (EV) research infrastructure and promote experiential learning on campus.
The collaboration also marks the launch of the ‘Ather Forge’ programme, a campus-integrated initiative aimed at fostering industry engagement and hands-on education. As part of the partnership, Ather has provided three electric scooters to support research and innovation activities among students.
Through this programme, students will gain direct exposure to Ather’s proprietary technologies, including battery systems and intelligent dashboards. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by enabling work on both hardware and software aspects of EV systems.
Primarily benefiting students from Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering streams, the programme also offers internship opportunities ranging from six months to one year.
Ather Energy highlighted that the initiative will equip students with industry-relevant skills and real-world exposure to electric mobility. Meanwhile, SRMIST noted that the programme will significantly enhance research capabilities while providing valuable industry experience to both students and faculty.
