Simplifying connectivity setups, Taoglas and Semtech introduce pre-tested antennas for AirLink routers, helping engineers cut deployment time and ensure reliable performance in tough environments.
Irish-based Taoglas and US’s Semtech Corporation have announced a technical collaboration to offer a portfolio of antennas that have been verified for use with Semtech’s AirLink series of routers. The initiative aims to simplify antenna selection for engineers and system integrators working in connectivity-dependent environments.
The pre-selected antennas have been tested for mechanical, electrical, and environmental compatibility with AirLink routers. They support 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, and GNSS across a variety of mounting options, including adhesive, magnetic, terminal, and through-hole designs. The models have been built to withstand weather exposure, vibration, and wide temperature ranges, making them suitable for outdoor and mobile applications.
Chris Friend, Vice President of Mobility and Infrastructure Sales at Taoglas, stated that the goal is to eliminate guesswork from the integration process.
“Instead of testing multiple antennas in the field, engineers now have access to a verified set that is already been checked against AirLink specifications. That can save time, particularly in critical infrastructure projects,” he said.
Semtech, which manufactures the AirLink routers, sees the partnership as a way to improve deployment consistency.
“Antenna selection is often overlooked, but it has a significant impact on performance,” said Kinana Hussain, Vice President of Networking Solutions at Semtech. “We have worked with Taoglas to offer a clearer path for integrators who need solutions that work reliably out of the box.”
The antennas feature single and multi-port configurations, some of which combine cellular, Wi-Fi, and GNSS in a single unit. All models support IP-rated installations and function across –40 °C to +85 °C, the standard operating range for industrial applications.
Furthermore, to assist with matching antennas to specific router models, Taoglas has published a reference guide, which is publicly accessible on its website. The companies, however, have not disclosed whether future product certifications or expanded testing will follow.
